As for permissions, on my end, most things fly. If you want to severely injure/mentally scar/kill Newt, hit me up first so we can discuss it.

This is also a place for you to leave notes about: 1.) Newt being too annoying so you'd like him not to tag you and/or 2.) if Newt can recognize your character from an anime/manga.

Okay, so, I am not 100% that Newt would be familiar with the new Voltron, but I am sure that he should at least know of the '84 version. I am pretty sure that any kind of space nerd should at least have some passing knowledge of Voltron.

Unfortunately, Shiro/Sven was a pretty minor part of that version. His paladin armour should be recognisable enough at least?

But you tell me! I have no problem with Newt having knowledge of Voltron, but I would rather not jump into any realm of "you're not real"/"you're from a tv show" considering Shiro's identity issues. If that makes sense?

Let's see, the first Kaiju appeared in 2013 and the new Voltron is 2014, so it's safe to say that he was waaaay to wrapped up in Kaiju at that point to pay attention to much of anything else. But I'm super on board for him knowing the old '84 version; that's right up his alley. So he would probably know a bit about it, but not overly much. Enough to recognize the paladin armor maybe and the whole idea of Voltron, but not more than that.

On the general whole, I try to avoid the "you're fictional lol" line of dialogue because it throws a lot of things out of whack, unless it's something Newt would really know, like Pokemon. But even then, he knows more the Pokemon rather than the characters, etc etc. But yeah! So he'll definitely know the idea of Voltron and be able to recognize the name and maybe the armor and stuff, but probably not identify Shiro as a character.

Excellent, that sounds perfect to me! I'm gonna run it by my castmates to see if it can be a blanket thing to recognise Voltron, the robot, and the armour.

edit: ran by castmates. all good with everyone for the robot & armour to be recognisable. Just not characters. Also, may have set up a future of being nerds with Pidge in the near future.

Ahhhh awesome!! Thank you!! He definitely would recognize the Evangelion kids, though he's more likely to make vague allusions than point out that they're fully fictional, as that's something I try to avoid. But he'll definitely probably completely tactlessly make some sort of get in the robot joke at some point because um unfortunately....Newt????
